Dental Implants
A dental implant is a small titanium post placed into the jawbone to act as a permanent new tooth root. Once it has fused with the bone, a natural-looking crown is fitted on top, giving you a replacement tooth that looks, feels and functions like your own. Implants are the closest thing to natural teeth and an excellent alternative to bridges and dentures for replacing one or more missing teeth.
Because the implant integrates with the bone, it also helps preserve the jaw and supports your facial structure over time. Treatment is planned carefully around the health of your gums and bone, and we explain each stage so you know what to expect.
After-care
- Follow our post-surgery instructions carefully, eating soft foods and avoiding the area while it heals.
- Do not smoke, which raises the risk of implant failure.
- Clean around the implant thoroughly every day, just as you would a natural tooth.
- Attend regular check-ups so we can monitor the implant and surrounding gum and bone.
